Painted finishes are sprayed in our own spray room and dried on racks like this, on the same floor where the chest is built.

Decisions to make

Matching your colour

Send a physical sample, such as a fabric swatch, paint chip or your packaging, or a code from a paint chart or your brand guidelines. We spray a test panel in the chest's wood and sheen for your approval; judge it where the chest will stand, as colour shifts between daylight and shop lights.

The routed pattern

The arches are routed into the front by our CNC router before painting, so the colour runs into the grooves and the pattern shows by shadow. The pattern can change to circles, waves or a shape of your own, on the lid as well, or the front can stay plain.

Sheen, legs and hardware

Gloss shows the routed lines sharply but also fingerprints and knocks; matt hides them and looks softer. The splayed legs can be dark wood, painted to match or in a contrasting colour. The tan leather pull and brass leg tips are fitted, chosen to suit your colour.

Suggested uses

Playrooms and children's rooms

Cushions, dressing-up clothes and craft boxes in a chest that matches the room's colours. Tell us who will open it; a lid stay can be fitted, confirmed per project.

Bright living rooms and kitchens

One colour accent against a pale wall or floor, holding throws, table linen or records, the way a single coloured armchair lifts a calm room.

Shops in a brand colour

A boutique or concept store uses the chest as a display piece in its own colour, with stock inside and products on the lid; several chests carry the brand through a shop or across branches.

Materials and options

Materials and finishes

  • Painted finish (as in the concept)Sprayed in our own spray room for an even coat with no brush marks, in matt, satin or gloss. The concept shows a glossy sunflower yellow.
  • Birch under the paintFine and even, so the routed arches stay crisp and the paint lies smooth, with no grain showing through.
  • Pine under the paintLighter and softer than birch, for a more relaxed look; knots may show faintly through pale colours.
  • Splayed legs with brass tipsIn a dark wood such as walnut or stained oak, with brass tips fitted to the feet; legs painted in the chest colour are an option.

Personalisation

For a shop, your logo engraved on one end or on the lid, or the routed pattern drawn from a shape in your brand. At home, initials engraved inside the lid. Position and size are agreed on the drawing.

From request to production

  1. Your briefTell us how you will use it, how many you need and whether you want a logo.
  2. Drawing and 3D reviewReview the design from each side on a private page.
  3. Quote and approvalPrice and scope agreed before anything is made.
  4. Prototype or productionFor a series, one prototype first; a single piece is made once approved.

The drawing sets out the routed pattern across the full front, so the arches meet the edges evenly. For a series in one brand colour, the first chest sets the colour and finish for the rest.

Questions

Can you match our brand colour?

Yes, from a physical sample or a colour code; a colour on screen is not a reliable reference. You approve a sprayed test panel before the chest is painted, and the same panel is used to check every chest in a series.

Will a painted chest show chips?

Painted wood shows knocks more than clear-finished wood, especially at corners and the edges of routed grooves. We soften edges slightly, and agree the finish and sheen with the chest's use in mind, whether a busy shop or a playroom.

Can we order several chests in different colours?

Yes. There is no minimum order: one chest, or a series in one colour or several. A family can have one chest per child, each in a colour they choose. For a series, the first chest is made as a prototype.
