About this piece

This medal is cut from brushed metal and has a slotted tab at the top for the ribbon. A tall opening is cut right through on the left, and the right-hand edge has a deep slot with two narrow cuts below it. The event name and the year 2020 are printed in dark red, and a thin black line crosses the lower half. The ribbon is dark red with a white stripe down the middle. The same slot, cuts and black line appear on a wooden first-place trophy for the same event, so the medals and the trophy read as one set.

Medals are the award most people at an event take home, so they are where the event's own design is seen most often. An outline cut to the event's artwork makes each medal part of that event, and the printed colours stand out against the plain brushed surface.

Medals like this are cut from metal sheet by laser cutting or CNC milling in the same Riga workshop where we make wooden and acrylic trophies, so one order can cover both. The outline, the openings, the wording, the year and the place can all change, and a run can cover every finisher or only the top three. You check the design in 3D on a private page before anything is cut.

Can the medals match our trophies?

Yes. This medal shares its slot, cuts and black line with a wooden first-place trophy for the same event. We draw medals and trophies from one set of artwork, so the shapes, colours and wording carry across every award.

Can the medal be made from wood or acrylic instead?

Yes. Wood, metal and plastic are all worked in our workshop in Riga, so the same outline can be cut from birch, oak or walnut, or from clear or coloured acrylic. A wooden medal with an acrylic layer is possible too.
