About this piece
The wheel lies flat, so its whole outline can be read at once: a ring of pointed teeth around an open rim, and four straight spokes that cross at a round hub with a small hole in the centre. The cut edges are straight and square to the face. The metal has a warm gold tone, with a light patina and fine scratches on its surface.
Cut gears show up in models, clocks and moving displays, on signs and in shop windows, in props, and as decorative details on furniture and gifts. A spoked wheel keeps the look of a working gear while using less metal and weighing less than a solid disc.
