About this piece

The letters run together like handwriting, one continuous blue line with rounded, glossy faces that catch the daylight. At the end of the word, a red star outline sits a little higher than the letters. The whole name stands upright on the edge of a curved concrete canopy above a glazed entrance, held by thin metal rods behind the letters, so from the ground it seems to float above the roof edge.

Script logos are harder to turn into a sign than block capitals, because the letters join and the stroke keeps changing direction. Seen against the sky, a thick stroke and a strong colour keep the name readable from far away. Standing on its own rod, the star completes the logo without crowding the word.

Script lettering is cut by laser cutting or CNC milling in our Riga workshop, following the artwork curve by curve, and we weld the steel frames that hold signs like this upright on a roof or a canopy. The colours are sprayed in our own spray room. Send the logo as a vector file with the length you want; we draw the letters and the frame, and you check them in 3D before production. Size, colour, finish and the number of signs can all change.

Questions

Can you turn a handwritten logo into sign letters?

Yes. We trace the artwork as a vector drawing, thicken thin strokes where needed and join the letters so the word holds together as one sign. You check every curve in the 3D drawing on a private page before production.

What holds rooftop letters like these in place?

Here the letters stand on thin metal rods fixed behind them and rising from the canopy. For a roof or canopy sign we draw a welded steel frame to suit the surface, and you see it in the 3D drawing together with the letters.
