Steel and oak shop shelving

AI concept for modular shop shelving: black painted steel frames with thick oak shelves, holding jars, gift boxes and bottles in a bright deli. For delis, wine and gift shops and producers' own stores; our workshop in Riga makes the steel and the oak on one floor, in bays you can add to later.

The idea images on this page are AI concepts — design ideas, not photos of finished work; final construction and scope are agreed for your project. The photo marked “Real work” is from our workshop.

Included:
Steel frames and solid oak shelves, made in bays to your wall
Optional:
Adjustable shelves, extra bays, another frame colour, your mark on each bay
You supply:
A floor plan and wall photos, product sizes and weights, your logo file

Real work from our workshop

We fitted a wine boutique in Riga with racking walls, display niches and a central island — shop shelving planned around the products it holds.

Decisions to make

Bay widths and shelf heights

Bay widths follow your wall and your products: a narrower bay for bottles, a wider one for gift boxes. Shelves can sit at fixed heights or on adjustable supports, so staff change the display with the season. How thick each shelf must be for its load is confirmed per project.

Adding bays later

Every bay is drawn to the same frame and shelf sizes, so a fourth bay added next year matches the first three. We keep the drawing and agree a colour and finish reference now, and later bays are made to it.

Standing free or fixed

Tall shelving loaded with heavy goods must stay put. Whether bays stand free, link together or are fixed to the wall is confirmed per project, once we know the wall, the floor and the load. Steel and oak are made on one floor, so frame and shelves are drawn together.

Suggested uses

Delis and farm shops

A full wall of jars, oils and boxed goods, with shelf heights set per bay: low for jars, taller for bottles, deeper for hampers.

Wine and spirits shops

Upright bottles on deeper shelves along a whole wall. Shelf thickness and supports for heavy shelves are confirmed per project.

Producers' own shops

A winery, brewery or chocolatier's shop where the shelving is part of the brand, with the same mark on every bay.

Shops that grow

Start with three bays and add more as the range grows, or move some to a second shop; every bay is drawn to match.

Materials and options

Materials and finishes

  • Black painted steel frame (as in the concept)Square tube welded in our workshop and painted. Slim uprights keep the eye on the products, not the frame.
  • Oak shelves (as in the concept)Thick solid oak takes jars and boxes slid on and off all day; the front edge is where hands go, so we agree the finish.
  • Other woodsAsh, birch or maple for a lighter shop, black alder or walnut for a darker one; pine suits a pop-up but dents sooner.
  • Frame in another colourWhite, grey or a brand colour, painted and matched from a sample, so later bays come out the same.

Personalisation

Your logo engraved on the front edge of an eye-level shelf, or a cut-steel mark on the top rail of each bay. Section plates for oils, wine or gifts can be cut or engraved to match. Size and position are agreed on the drawing.

  2. Drawing and 3D reviewReview the design from each side on a private page.
  3. Quote and approvalPrice and scope agreed before anything is made.
  4. Prototype or productionFor a series, one prototype first; a single piece is made once approved.

The drawing shows the bays on your wall, with shelf heights set to your products. The prototype is one bay, loaded with your own stock, before the full run; later bays are made to the same drawing.

What to send us for a quote

  • Products per bay: the tallest, the widest, and the weight of a full shelf
  • How many bays now, and how many you may add later
  • Fixed or adjustable shelves

Questions

Can we add more bays to the shelving later?

Yes. Later bays are made to the same drawing as the first, and the steel colour and wood finish are matched to the reference we agree at the start.

Can steel and oak shelving hold wine bottles?

Yes, on deeper shelves with supports sized for the weight. Bottles weigh far more than gift boxes, so tell us how many stand on each shelf; the shelf thickness and its supports are confirmed per project.

How is this different from your oak shop display unit?

The display unit is one freestanding oak piece with glass-front drawers for stock. This shelving is a run of steel-framed bays along a wall, with thick oak shelves, that grows a bay at a time. Both are made in our workshop in Riga.
