Wooden wine crate for three bottles

AI concept for a wooden wine crate for three bottles in natural pine, with rope handles, an open top and a blank front panel for your engraved logo. For wineries, wine shops and gift buyers; our workshop in Riga builds it to order, with the slots cut to your bottles.

The idea images on this page are AI concepts — design ideas, not photos of finished work; final construction and scope are agreed for your project. The photo marked “Real work” is from our workshop.

Real work from our workshop

Wine racking we built for a wine boutique in Riga started like this: frames cut and assembled in raw wood in our workshop, then stained and fitted in the shop.

Decisions to make

Rope handles and carrying weight

Three full 75 cl bottles weigh roughly 3.5 to 5 kg before the crate's own weight, so the handles matter. We agree rope thickness, how it is fixed to the end panels and whether those ends are thickened; cut hand-holds are the alternative. Load strength is confirmed per project on the prototype.

Open top or a lid

The open top in the concept suits a shop counter. For hampers and gift sets you may prefer a sliding or loose lid. If you are unsure, we draw both for you to compare.

Slots for three different bottles

The concept shows three bottles lying in their slots. A tasting set often means three bottle shapes, so each slot is cut to its own bottle, with dividers high enough to keep the glass apart and low enough to read the labels from above.

Suggested uses

Cellar-door and tasting-room sales

A winery sells its tasting trio in one crate that customers carry out by the rope handles. Your name on the front panel keeps working on a shelf at home.

Open-top display in a wine shop

With the top open, the crate stands on a counter and customers lift a bottle out to read it. A shop can keep empty crates with its name on the front at the till, for any three bottles.

Spirits, hampers and client gifts

A distillery has the slots cut for its own bottles, and a hamper maker can size one slot for oil or a jar. For client gifts, a series carries your logo on the front panel.

Harvest and anniversary editions

A winery marking a harvest or an anniversary engraves the year and an edition number on each front panel, so the crate becomes part of the set people keep.

Materials and options

Materials and finishes

  • Pine (as in the concept)Light to carry and right for a rustic crate, but soft, so the corners and the front panel mark more easily.
  • OakHeavier and harder, with a stronger grain; sensible if the crate will be reused or kept on display.
  • AshPale like pine but tougher, so the crate stays light in colour and copes better with cellar-door knocks.
  • Other speciesBirch and black alder are also available, light like pine but with fewer knots; a painted crate suits a brand colour. We check the weight against the rope handles.

Personalisation

The blank front panel in the concept is the place for your logo engraved, with room for a wine name or vintage. A smaller mark can sit on an end panel beside a rope handle. Size and position are agreed on the drawing.

From request to production

  1. Your briefTell us how you will use it, how many you need and whether you want a logo.
  2. Drawing and 3D reviewReview the design from each side on a private page.
  3. Quote and approvalPrice and scope agreed before anything is made.
  4. Prototype or productionFor a series, one prototype first; a single piece is made once approved.

We draw the crate around your sample bottles, with each slot and divider shown. The prototype is carried with three full bottles inside, to check the rope handles and end panels, and shows your logo engraved on real wood.

Questions

Can you make the same crate for four or six bottles, or for spirits?

Yes. The crate is made to your size, so the same design can be drawn for four or six bottles, or for spirits or oil bottles. A bigger crate carries more weight, so the handles and end panels are checked on the prototype and load strength is confirmed per project.

Can the bottles stand upright instead of lying down?

They can, but the crate changes: standing bottles need a taller crate and higher dividers, and the labels face sideways rather than up. The concept shows the bottles lying in their slots, which keeps the crate low and the labels readable from above. We draw whichever you choose.

Can each crate carry its own name or vintage?

Yes. Send a list, one line per crate, and we lay each one out on the drawing. The front panel has room for your logo with a wine name or vintage beneath it.
