About this piece
There is no sign board here, only the letters. Each capital is a flat, separate piece in black with clean cut edges, and the word is spaced out across a coarse grey render. The letters sit just off the wall, so every one throws a thin shadow, and the rough texture of the render shows all around them. Their strokes flare slightly at the ends, in a classic serif style.
Letters fixed straight to the facade suit buildings where a board would hide the wall or clash with it: old render, brick, stone or a plain modern front. Black on light grey gives strong contrast in daylight, and because each letter is separate, the name can fit the space available, between windows or above a door. Seen from the street, the name looks like part of the building.
Letters for a facade are cut from steel or plastic sheet in our Riga workshop, by laser cutting or CNC milling, and the finish is sprayed in our own spray room. You send the name and the typeface, or your logo; we draw the letters to the size of your wall, and you check them in 3D on a private page before production. The height of the letters, their thickness, the colour and how far they stand from the wall can all be set for your facade.

Do individual letters work on a rough wall such as render or brick?
Yes. These letters are fixed to coarse render and stand just off it, so the uneven surface does not change how straight the word reads. Tell us what your wall is made of, and we plan the fixing when we draw the letters.
How do you get the spacing right on the wall?
We draw the whole word to scale from the measurements of your facade, and you check the size and spacing in 3D on a private page. Once you approve the drawing, the letters are cut to match it.
