About this piece

A plate of oak with a straight, even grain carries a line pictogram of a man: a ring for the head, and thin strokes that outline the body, the arms and the legs. The figure is a brushed grey and is set into the oak rather than stuck on top. The edges of the plate are square and crisp.

Oak and a single-line figure make a quiet way to mark a toilet, a changing room or a staff door in a place with wooden doors, panelling or furniture. The plate belongs with the joinery rather than with a sign system, and a woman figure or another pictogram in the same line style makes a pair or a full set.

For plates like this, the oak is cut on our panel saws and the pocket for the pictogram is cut by CNC milling, so the inlay follows its outline closely. The plate and the inlay are both made in our Riga workshop, where wood, metal and plastic are worked side by side. Your version can use ash, walnut, maple or another wood we work with, a different pictogram or a word, another size, or another finish for the inlay. A 3D view of the plate on a private page comes before any wood is cut, and the quote is settled before work starts.

Questions

Can you make a matching woman pictogram and other symbols?

Yes. The line figure is drawn for your set, so a woman, a family room, stairs or a cloakroom can follow the same single-line style. Each plate is drawn from your list, and you check the whole family in 3D before production.

Can the plate match our oak doors?

We can match the wood and get close on tone. Send a photo of the doors, or better a small sample, and we choose oak with a similar grain. The prototype shows the match on a real plate before the series is made.
