White Nordic makes custom room numbers and wayfinding signs in Riga, Latvia. The examples include raised numerals, pictograms, corridor arrows, floor directories and plates with tactile dots. A sign schedule lists what each sign must say.
Identify where people need the information: beside a door, along a corridor or at a change of floor. Include these positions in your schedule. For the building's main name or logo, see our custom signage.
Room numbers
Room numbers can sit on a plate, stand alone on a door or project from a bracket. The photographs show domed numerals, a wood-veneer plate, cut-through numbers and a vertical plate. Compare their shapes and the contrast between number and background.
Door signs and pictograms
A door sign may use a symbol, words or both. Here, an oak plate carries an inset pictogram, a bracket carries toilet symbols and a dark panel identifies a staircase. Supply the exact wording, symbols and position for each sign.
Direction and floor signs
Corridor plates and floor directories combine information that needs to be read together. The examples show room ranges, arrows and a number on a projecting bracket. List each destination beside its required direction so the drawing can show the complete message.
Tactile signs
The photographed tactile plates have raised dots below the room numbers. Another example places a numbered sign beside a sliding indicator. For tactile details, provide the required dot arrangement and specification separately from the plate's colour and its visual lettering.
Table numbers
The table numbers shown are folded pieces that stand on a tabletop, with a bold number on each face. For a similar set, send the number sequence, preferred appearance and a description of the tables where they will be used.
Materials and finishes
The examples combine contrasting faces, raised details and shaped backings, in oak, wood veneer, metal and acrylic. The finishes in the photographs include copper-tone, gold-tone and silver-grey. For a building, decide which features every room plate, directory and pictogram should share, so the whole set reads as one family.

Questions
What is a sign schedule?
It is a list of the signs you need, with the wording, number or symbol for each one. Include quantities, sizes and intended positions so similar signs and individual exceptions can be discussed together.
Can I request a single room number?
Yes, an individual room number is possible. Send its wording, size and a reference for the appearance you want. We also make sets, with one prototype first when the order is a series.
What should I send for a projecting sign?
Include a view along the corridor and a sketch or reference showing how you want the sign to project. State what should be visible on each face and how it is intended to be fixed.
Can you make plates with tactile dots?
Yes, the work here includes plates with raised tactile dots. Send the exact dot arrangement and the specification your project requires, and we draw the plate to match it before anything is made.
How will I review a set before production?
You receive a drawing and a 3D review of the design on a private page. Use these to check the proposed layout against your sign schedule. The quote is agreed before anything is made.
